Abstract: |
An enhanced survey of Fulford Steading has recorded all the features of significance and the various forms and functions have been documented. According to the cartographic evidence the farm was built before 1854 but the E-shaped steading was not built until after this date. Four broad phases of alteration have been identified ranging from an earlier farm complex prior to 1854 to larger scale modifications of the 20th century. The formal layout of the farm appears to have changed little according to the historical maps. The principal changes occurred mainly during the 20th century with the introduction of various partitions, modifications to doorways, and new roofs. |
