Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed deeply stratified Roman remains up to 1.5m below the modern ground level. The site was particularly rich in finds: pottery, bone and oyster shell were all abundant, with several metal artefacts. The results were not unexpexted given the site location in the centre of the known Roman town at Godmanchester. Several discrete features, such as pits and ditches were excavated. These in turn were sealing layers and other features. Two test pits at either end of the trench determined the depth of archeaology. |
