Abstract: |
A watching brief was conducted on an area of land formerly used for agriculture as part of the topsoil stripping of the site. There were no known archaeological sites within the development area. A WWII emergency bridge (NMRS NS79NE 76) and a Bronze age spearhead findspot (NMRS NS79NE 7) lay just outside the boundary of the development. The historical map evidence suggested the potential for the remains of two post-medieval farmsteads to lie within the site. No trace of the farmsteads was found however an approach road to the WWII bridge and two sets of post-medieval cultivation furrows were revealed. |
