Abstract:
SUAT Ltd was commissioned by Shawater Ltd on behalf of their clients, Rottal Hydro Ltd, to undertake a Watching Brief during the construction of a hydro-electric pipeline at Rottal in Glen Clova, Angus. The work involved working closely with the contractors to ensure that known archaeology was either avoided or recorded. Three site visits were made on the 9th June, 16th June and 22nd July 2008. Over the course of this project the pipeline route was successfully altered to avoid damage to pre- and post-clearance structures. A short watching brief took place at a mound near the terminal of a bank relating to a sheep fold, but this feature, on excavation, turned out to be natural. The SUAT site code was GA02.
