Abstract:		 Lord Southesk commissioned SUAT Ltd to undertake an archaeological watching brief in Kinnaird Castle near Brechin which is centred on NO 63411 57116. The work, carried out on 5th March 2009, entailed watching the excavation of a waste water pipe trench in a corridor in the south wing of the castle. The wing is known to incorporate 15th century remains but was badly damaged in a fire in the 1920s. The watching brief revealed a thick 19th century foundation deposit but no early remains. The SUAT site code was BR12.
