Abstract:		 In response to a condition on the planning permission for a barn conversion at 26A Orchard Road, Baldock, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the owner of the property to undertake a watching brief on the footings of the new building. The works revealed a layer of buried soil of possible medieval date, sealed by the modern overburden. This buried soil sealed a ditch or pit of Romano-British date.
