Abstract:		 In response to a condition on the planning permission for a new single story rear extension at The Laurels, 80 High Street, Walkern, Hertfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the developer to undertake the archaeological monitoring of the groundworks. Despite the site's location within the core of the medieval village, the monitoring of the groundworks associated with the new development uncovered no archaeological features earlier than post medieval in date.
