Abstract:		 In April 2007 Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd (ASC) carried out an evaluation at Shephall Green Infants School, Stevenage in response to proposals for the redevelopment of the site. Despite the proximity of archaeological features and discrete finds within a 1km radius of the site, none were observed during this evaluation. This would suggest that the area was peripheral to any settlement or major activity, no doubt due to the number of springs on or near the site and the high subsequent high water table observed in Trench 4.
