Abstract: |
During March 2008, Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd undertook a watching brief, at Ashwell Primary School, Ashwell, Hertfordshire. The work was required to monitor the groundworks associated with the construction of two new classrooms. The only significant finds were two southwest to northeast ditches. Though the only finds recovered from the fill dated to the 1st half of the 19th century it is likely that the ditches were medieval or early post medieval homestead boundaries extending from Silver Street to Ashwell Street. Mapping evidence shows that these ditches were filled sometime before 1877. |
