Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was conducted for Wellington Construction Ltd during the construction of several residential dwellings on land off Peasenhall Road, Walpole, Suffolk. This evaluation saw the excavation of seven trial trenches within the proposed development area. Due to the premature commencement of construction within the central portion of the site these trenches were placed on the periphery of development area. Apart from a small quantity of potentially earlier Neolithic struck flint very little evidence for past activity was recovered. Only four features were identified, the majority of which are likely to have been post-medieval or modern. The archaeological potential of this site is therefore low and it is unlikely that archaeologically significant remains are present within its undisturbed portions. |
