Abstract: |
Between September 2004 and October 2005 Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd (ASC) carried out a watching brief at 80 Oxford Road, Stone, Buckinghamshire. Although Roman and Anglo-Saxon burials have been discovered to the north and the south of the site there was no evidence for any archaeological activity pre-dating the modern period on the site itself. The watching brief revealed evidence for small-scale sand extraction taking place in recent times, which may have destroyed any earlier archaeological remains. |
