Abstract: |
An evaluation was required by West of Scotland Archaeology Service prior to a housing development at Richmond Court, Rutherglen. The site is directly north of Gallowflat Mound (NMRS 66SW20), an upstanding monument of unknown date and function. Seven trenches of varying length and orientation were excavated across the site representing a 20% sample of the total development area. The trenches all showed that modern made ground lay directly over the natural geology indicating recent truncation of the site. In addition foundation trenches of a previously demolished modern building were seen to cut the natural geology. No deposits, features or finds of archaeological significance were found. |
