Abstract: |
In May 2008, Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation at 22 High Street, Huntindon, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 24040 71615). The evaluation was commissioned in advance of the redevelopment of the site, comprising the erection of three dwellings (Planning ref: 07/--64-/FUL). A single trial trench was excavated. Two large pits were revealed at a depth of almost 4m below ground level. The earliest pit was dated to the 12th to 14th century. A second pit, dated to the 13th to 14th century, cut the first. One post-medieval posthole was also revealed. Two sherds of residual 2nd - 4th century Roman pottery were recovered. |
