Abstract: |
CFA Archaeology carried out an archaeological watching brief during groundbreaking activity for the construction of Hill of Fiddes Wind Farm, near Ellon, Aberdeenshire. The watching brief identified a number of features, all of which were interpreted as post-medieval in date. These features included the remains of three probable field boundaries, and evidence of land clearance and improvement by the partial removal of a large in-situ boulder using plug and feather and the construction of a crude stone culvert set within a linear ditch. The well preserved and extensive remains of broad rig-and-furrow were also recorded. The watching brief did not identify any features or depositis of archaeological significance within the development area. |
