Abstract: |
The excavation of this interesting site which had been a grange for Thorney and then Peterborough Abbey's prior to their dissolution revealed evidence for archaeolgical activity on the site from the Late Bronze Age. This early activity seems to be purely domestic. The excavation has provided information on life on a Medieval Monastic grange. Landscaping, garden soil and demolition layers represent the Post-medieval phase of the site. The Post-medieval farmhouse of the grange had been given Grade II* Listed status, but was the target of arsonists in 2003, the substantial remains of which are still preserved on site. |
