Abstract:		 A watching brief was carried out by CFA Archaeology Ltd. during ground breaking construction works for extensions and refurbishments to the Charteris Land Building, 15 St John Street, Edinburgh. Two areas were monitored, an L-shaped trench excavated for a propsed plant room to the front of the current building, and a trench excavated to the rear of the building for the gabion wall. Deposits of made ground were uncovered relating to the construction of the current building, but no remains of archaeological significance were found.
