Abstract: |
Three investigative pits were dug on the course of an existing pipeline route between Boohay Reservoir and Kingswear on the west side of Mount Ridley Road over a distance of approximately 200m to allow the main to be scraped and re-lined. Pit 2 was the central pit with Pit 1 about 100m south and Pit 3 about 100m north. These pits were monitored due the the presence on the east side of Mount Ridley Road of crop-marks suggested to provide evidence of a prehistoric double-ditched enclosure. Although no archaeological features were recorded a record was made of the exposed soils and natural bedrock. |
