Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology on land off Alma Road, Peterborough. Three areas were opened up for investigation based on an earlier evaluation carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology. The northernmost area of excavation contained ditches, a large pit and a series of small pits/postholes which were Roman in date, a number of linear features were also noted which are post-medieval in origin. The eastern area of the site contained two features, a ditch of late Bronze Age/early Iron Age origin and a partial ring gully of Roman date. The third area in the south of the site contained an early medieval well. |
