Abstract: |
In October 2009, Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) undertook archaeological monitoring and recording of land at 2-4 Mulgrave Road, Croydon. Surrey. The monitoring was undertaken after the groundworks associated with a proposed building extension had been substantially completed. The ground reduction for the extension had already been undertaken, and some of the spoil was heaped on the adjacent lawn. The foundation trenches had been excavated, and filled with concrete. The lowest courses of the walls for the extension were laid. The service runs were excavated, and filled. No other ground work will be undertaken. Short sections of stratigraphy were preserved adjacent to the house. The spoil heaps on the lawn were searched for finds. Below layers of made ground modern service pipes were present. No archaeological features or finds were present. |
