Abstract:
A programme of Historic Building Recording was conducted on the site of 39c Hampton Court Road, opposite the Lion gate of Hampton Court. This had most recently been a single storey commercial premises of mid 20th century date built onto Maze Cottage and a Grade II Listed wall bounding Bushey Park. A Watching brief was carried out on the excavation of new foundations, which revealed poorly surviving foundation walls of 19th century date which may be the remnant of tea-rooms known to have been on the site at the turn of the 20th century.
