Abstract:		 Two evaluation trenches with a total length of c. 23m revealed extensive disturbance associated with the site's former use and recent demolition activity, particulary at the eastern end of the site. Unstratified finds from the excavated spoil include ceramics and clay tobacco pipes, and probably represent domestic waste within the rear gardens of properties fronting the High Street from the 17th and 18th centuries.
