Abstract: |
Following the identification of worked oak wood, disturbed by drainage operations in the former Black Loch on the Monreith estate, AOC Archaeology Group carried out an assessment survey of the disturbed area. Reconnaisance coring and test pitting established the location of a probable crannog, which seems likely to have been clipped by the main drainage run-off trench. One of the test pits encountered a pile and horizontal timbers; these were sampled for radiocarbon dating. |
