Abstract:
Report on a watching brief on land adjacent to Friary Road Lichfield. Archaeological mitigationwas deemed necessary due to the proximity of the site to the reported location of a medieval to post medieval mill and associated mill pond. The brief specified that all ground works should be monitored in order to identify any such remains. These works involved the monitoring of foundation trenches for the construction of two dwellings on the site, one to the east the other to the west. Phase 1 related to the eastern building and was undertaken between Febraury 25th and the 26th. Phase 2 was concerned with the excavation of the foundation trenches for the building at the west of the plot.
