Abstract: |
A watching brief and desk-based assessment was carried out for a development at Shed 25, Camperdown Street, Dundee. The eastern part of Shed 25 was constructed in 1864/65 and is the oldest surviving transit shed in Dundee. Two building are depicted on the Ordnance Survey Second Edition map (1903) within the area adjacent to Shed 25 where the watching brief was undertaken. These buildings are visible on oblique aerial photographs dating to 1943. The watching brief identified the remains of the buildings depicted on the Ordnance Survey Second Edition map. They consisted of red brick wall footings, which sat on substantial concrete foundations. A second phase of work comprising a standing building survey of Shed 25 is due to be undertaken. |
