Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment and evaluation was carried out at the site of the former Inveresk kennels. Aerial photography suggests that the proposed development area lies within the interior of a Neolithic Cursus monument. Cartographic evidence suggests that there has been no pre-recent development on the site that pre-dates the recently demolished 20th century kennels. Trial trenching identified a number of foundations and service pipes associated with the former kennels, but there were no features, deposits or artefacts of archaeological significance. The archaeological potential of the area is likely to have been reduced by the construction and subsequent demolition of the kennels. |
