Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was completed across the former site of the Brunton Wireworks, Inveresk, in advance of the proposed redevelopment of the site. The seven trenches excavated recorded an underground network of tunnels, vents, flues and associated features related to the Wireworks heating and steam distribution system. Artefactual evidence for the use of the development site as a dumping ground for the 19th century Newbigging pottery was identified through the recovery of waster material, marmalade jars and ginger beer bottles. |
