Abstract:		 A watching brief, trench evaluation and subsequent excavation was carried out prior to redevelopment of the site, which lies close to one of the main roads leading into the Roman and medieval city. No building remains were exposed but evidence was found for activity within the site during the Roman period, and from the medieval period on. Remains included agricultural ditches, rubbish and quarry pits.
