Abstract: |
July 2005 to June 2006. Oxford Archaeology carried out a building survey on three buildings affected by the development of 65 - 67 St Giles, Oxford University Classics Centre. Areas to be demolished were photographed prior to the demolition and a watching brief was maintained on the stripping out and demolition works. The three buildings, all listed grade II, dated from the early 18th to the late 19th centuries and contain a large number of original period fixtures and fittings. No. 67 is particularly consistent in its interior. At the rear of the properties a series of later additions were demolished and these were recorded in some detail along with the rear rooms of No. 67 which were also demolished. |
