Abstract: |
University of Leicester Archaeological Services was commissioned to undertake an archaeological watching brief during the groundworks for remedial work to remove asbestos. The area was the former site of the Union Workhouse and associated foundations, floors and service trenches were recorded. However despite being in an area of archaeological significance nothing earlier than the 19th century workhouse foundations were recorded and it is likely that the ground had been levelled prior to this The archive will be held by Leicestershire Museums, under the accession number XA76.2010. |
