Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken for Mrs Abbott by the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on the 21st and 22nd of January 2008 in advance of a proposed ménage, stables and hardstanding area to the south of Breach farm, Breach Lane, Earl Shilton (planning application number 07/01087/FUL). The site, covering approximately 0.87ha, was subject to a geophysical survey that identified possible curvilinear ditches and features. In view of this the site was considered to have significant potential for undisturbed archaeological features and deposits. Three evaluation trenches were excavated to reveal two undated post holes and a possible natural feature. The geophysical anomalies appear to be variations within the natural substratum. Records will be deposited with Leicestershire County Council, under accession number X.A.22.2008. |
