Abstract: |
Desk-Based Assessment and trenching evaluation (127m2) of land proposed for the development of a community centre. The Desk-Based Assessment recorded the presence of a number of AP and built heritage sites in the surrounding area although none were within the area of the evaluation. Five trenches were excavated. A ditch feature was recorded which is probably the remains of a field boundary ditch. A further feature is also likely to be associated with the relict field boundary and may be a boundary ditch or a small a quarry scoop, to procure material for the field boundary bank. No dating evidence was found in the excavated contexts. It is probable that all the features identified during this evaluation are associated with the relict field boundary that crosses the site and is shown on the 1st Edition OS mapping. |
