Abstract: |
An evaluation by peat probe and test pitting, up to a depth of 0.30m,was undertaken in the Churchyard of the Church of St John the Evangelist, Edinburgh. The works were conducted to establish depth and condition of any buried recumbent monuments and stub walls in the graveyard area. Results indicate that virtually all plot walls present on the 1853 Ordnance Survey plan of the graveyard survive below ground and that two buried recumbent monuments are present. The works were undertaken on behalf of Peter McGowan Associates and will be used to inform the Conservation Plan for the Church of St John the Evangelist Graveyard |
