Abstract: |
Summary: Somersham, land to rear of The Rectory, and east of St Marys Church, Main Road (SSH 018, TM 0910 4870) evaluation trenching of the area proposed as an extension to the graveyard for St Marys Church revealed a single pit which did not contain any finds and whose irregular base suggests an origin as a tree root hole. A metal detector search and visual scan of the upcast spoil recovered one small pottery sherd of probable Roman date and metal finds of 19th century or later date. |
