Abstract: |
The trench evaluation has demonstrated the presence of clearly related archaeological features, all with significant charcoal deposits, in the western part of the development site within evaluation Trench 8. It was considered highly likely that the features were Roman (Romano-British) given the presence of hobnails and the uniformity of their form suggested burials although no bone was apparent. However, C14 testing of charcoal recovered from within the same feature as the hobnails has returned a Bronze Age date and further work is required to address this conflict of dating. |
