Abstract: |
A test-pit was dug to assess the depth and nature of archaeological remains in the area where preservation is most likely, to inform the impact of building a new extension to a domestic property. The site lies within the former moat area of a medieval castle. The upper levels within the test pit were dateable by pottery to no earlier than the late post-medieval period, The lowest layer in the test pit contained demolition debris from a stone walled and stone-roofed building of uncertain date. |
