Abstract: |
Archaeological watching brief during ground works associated with the repair and renewal of a public footpath around Sherrif Hutton Castle. The archaeological recording was made a condition of Scheduled Monument Consent (ref HSD 9/2/10810). The shallow nature of the ground works meant that, along the majority of the footpath's route, the only deposits encountered were topsoils and subsoils. A surface or building foundation, positioned across the west end of the north canal, which runs south of the castle ruins, was observed. |
