Abstract:		 A watching brief on the route of the proposed A24 Horsham to Capel Road Improvement Scheme during a geotechnical investigation. Nine of the 89 trial pits revealed possible archaeological features. Disturbed river deposits were identified within four trial pits and twelve trial pits produced archaeological finds from the topsoil. The small quantity of dating evidence, generally recovered as residual or unstratified material, included struck flint and burnt flint probably reflecting prehistoric activity and later finds representing the late medieval and post-medieval periods.
