Abstract: |
A series of four evaluation trenches were opened on land adjacent to Kensham Avenue, Bradninch. The excavation of seven geotechnical pits was also monitored. Five features were identified - four irregular pits (probably tree-throws), and a possible linear feature - none of which produced any dateable artefacts. The central and lowest part of the site was sealed by a thick (up to 1m) deposit of colluvial material that may seal and protect a buried land surface. Only a very small number of artefacts of any kind were recovered from the topsoil, and these were largely small, abraded and 18th or 19th century in date. A single late Neolithic/early Bronze Age flint scraper was recovered from one of the geotechnical pits. |
