Abstract: |
An evaluation combined study of Palaeolithic and post-glacial archaeology. A deep test pit did not reveal any Palaeolithic remains or potential. The other trenches did show a ditch that contained later Bronze Age pottery and flints, and an undated posthole. Subsequent excavation showed that the ditch was medieval but had been cut across a Bronze Age artefact scatter, and revealed several more undated features. The probability is that the undated features are Bronze Age and represent an occupation site, but this cannot be proved. At the least the artefact scatter seems to be a Bronze Age midden. |
