Abstract: |
In September 2009 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation at Marigolds, 64 High Street, Old Harlow, Harlow, Essex (NGR TL 4745 1159). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with a planning condition attached to the approval for the construction of two new dwellings and a garage. The site lies on the southern side of the High Street, Old Harlow, within the Old Harlow Conservation Area. It incorporates a street frontage, part of the plot of Marigolds, a large 18th century Grade II listed house. The evaluation revealed the remains of the 19th century building that occupied this part of the site until its recent demolition. It also revealed a Victorian well and a more recent pumping chamber. |
