Abstract:
Wigglesworth Hall Laithe is a large aisled barn of the 16th or early 17th century, standing next to the former manorial centre of Wigglesworth Hall ; it may have been built as the tithe barn for Long Preston parish and is listed, grade II. The original structure was thirteen bays long, with wide aisles to both long sides, but was altered in the 19th century, and almost all of the timber frame was destroyed by fire in 1958, so that little survives other than the masonry walls. Historic building recording was carried out to fulfil a condition of planning consent for its conversion to residential use.
