Abstract:		 English Heritage funded project to undertake 89 sq km of Historic Landscape Characterisation (HLC) refinement work in West Penwith, Cornwall. The work builds upon the HLC refinement already undertaken by HE Projects, Cornwall Council, in West Penwith as part of the 'Lowland Cornwall' and 'HLC Revisions in West Penwith' projects. The project completed revised HLC mapping for 89 sq km of the West Penwith peninsula (the complete parishes of Sancreed, St Ives, Sennen and St Levan and parts of St Buryan, Madron, Gulval, Ludgvan and Lelant) for six time-slices; c2012, c1880, c1840, late Medieval, later prehistoric and Romano-British period, and early prehistory. All HLC mapping was undertaken on ESRI ArcView 9.3/10 GIS software to produce a shapefile with accompanying attribute tables. Full attributes were inputted for the c2012, c1880, c1840 time-slices, but only partial attributes completed for the earlier 'interpretive time-slices'.
