Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during construction of a new cycle bridge over the River Walkham. The bridge was located adjacent to the site of a demolished viaduct constructed by Isambard Kingdon Brunel in 1859. The remains of three of the viaduct piers were partially exposed, as was a short length of leat associated with nearby 19th-century mines. |
