Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during the construction of a new bungalow and garage. The site lies on land to the rear of properties fronting the River Welland. The project produced a generally negative result, with terrace gravels located at the base of the foundation trenches, overlain by thick deposits of clay alluvium. A deposit seen in the garage foundations at the northern end of the plot may have had an archaeological origin but was undated. The results are consistent with the findings of an earlier evaluation carried out on land to the east, at No 17 Suttons Lane. |
