Abstract: |
Five of the seven trenches revealed features potentially of archaeological interest, including ditches, gullies, pits, a post-hole, a wall foundation and a chalk surface. One ditch is reasonably certainly medieval, another ditch and a pit possibly so. All the other datable features are post-medieval; some may be associated with the 17th-century manor house known to have stood on the site. A single sherd of Late Iron Age or Early Roman pottery was also recovered. |
