Abstract: |
Archaeological watching brief during the excavation of two building plots at Penmachrie, Gold Road, Millport, Cumbrae. The plots are located on gently sloping land with a southerly aspect. Topsoil was between 0.2m and 0.4m thick. Plot 1 comprised the footprint for a house and garage. Natural subsoil was purplish yellow clay with occasional rounded stones. No archaeological remains or deposits were identified. Plot 2 comprised foundtion trenches for a house. Natural subsoil was purplish clay with seams of stiff grey boulder clay and soft yellow clay. No archaeological remains or deposits were identified. |
