Abstract: |
An historic building record of the hospital as prepared. The site developed from an 1836-8 workhouse, designed by Scott and Moffat, of which the front range and parts of the rear ranges survived. It was enlarged with the construction of a detached receiving room and boardroom and an infirmary, as well as other buildings. The hospital was constructed on a nearby site in 1896-8 and was enlarged in the early 20th century. By the 1940s it had taken over the former workhouse. |
