Abstract: |
Unlisted early 19th century bakehouse to rear of listed 18th century house containing a modern bread oven, built in 1935 and manufactured by Smith and Sons of Lambeth. The bakehouse forms part of a crude timber-framed outbuilding range now used as stores/workshop that originally contained an earlier oven or washhouse, evidenced by the chimney base built from 19th century bricks. When the new oven was inserted, the western end of the building was largely demolished and the chimney rebuilt. The later oven is likely to have been part of a commercial operation. |
