Abstract: |
Building record of late 16th century barn with 17th and 19th century additions within former moated site. The oldest part of the barn contains a 13m-long section of undecorated crown post roof and a substantial truss, possibly from the original hall which was replaced in the 16th century. The barn lies within an interesting multi-phase farmstead that includes a grade 2* listed 14th century barn and medieval timbers are thought to be present in the present Hall. A watching brief proved negative and suggests the eastern arm of the infilled moat lies to the east of the barn, as maps suggest |
