Abstract: |
Level 2 building record of an early 20th century forge prior to residential conversion. The forge comprises the forge itself, built in the mod 19th century with the adjacent house (no.32, where the blacksmith lived) and an 18th-early 19th century workshop, fromer premises for a wheelwright. A contemporary outshot survives (though modified) and also the old iron wheel plate out in the yard at the back. The buildings have been slightly modified externally but their basic apperance has chnaged little. All equipment had been stripped during the survey apart from the forge itself, which will make an attractive feature in the conversion. |
